Redding Rodeo - Inductee, Class of 2016

The Redding Rodeo Committee was honored to be selected as an inductee to the ProRodeo Hall of Fame class of 2016. This honor was 68 years in the making for our all volunteer hardworking members. Since 1948, the Redding Rodeo members have contributed countless hours to produce a Hall of Fame level rodeo. One of PRCA's top rodeos since its creation after World War II, the Redding Rodeo is a long-standing member of the Wrangle Million Dollar Silver Tour and SixPac rodeo series.
We also hold the distinction of hosting the inaugural Wrangler Champions Challenge even on May 18, 2013. Our rodeo is also a place where history was made. On May 20, 1998, Lane Frost became the first cowboy to ride the ProRodeo Hall of Fame bull Red Rock. Lane made the eight-second ride that was part of the "Challenge of Champions" event. It was a moment in PRCA history that will never be forgotten.
The ProRodeo Hall of Fame and Museum of the American Cowboy educates the public about rodeo, its history, and its impact on Western American culture. The Hall of Fame provides recognition to rodeo notables of the past and present, and serves as an inspiration for the future. Opened in August 1979 as a museum designed to "preserve the legacy of the cowboy contests, the heritage and culture of those original competitions, and the champions of the past, present and future." It is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and only inducts Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association and Women's Professional Rodeo Association members. It is the only museum in the world devoted exclusively to the sport of professional rodeo. Since the Hall’s opening in 1979, 250 people, 31 livestock and 27 rodeo committees have been inducted. More than 100 individuals are nominated each year, but only a few are selected. See the complete list of inductees here:http://www.prorodeohalloffame.com/inductees/
