Howdy!
My name is Belinda Brookins. I am 21 years old, I am your Miss Redding Rodeo 2024. Located in Northern California, I represent the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association) sanctioned rodeo, The Redding Rodeo. All my life I have been in and out of the rodeo arena. As a youngster, I competed in Junior Rodeos, which turned into CHSRA (California High School Rodeo Association) Rodeos in high school as a member of District 1. In college I competed on the NIRA (National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association) stage as a member of the Feather River College Rodeo team. All competing in pole bending and barrel racing events. Equine athletics isn’t the only thing that occupies my time. In my hometown of Lewiston, Ca, I have a Boer goat breeding operation, called “Belinda’s Boers”. We produce Boer goat show stock and USDA certified goat meat products that are available to the local public. You can check my operation out on my various social media platforms and my website at belindasboers.com. I get to share my knowledge and skills of animal husbandry throughout the year as a local 4-H leader as well. While I am not in the rodeo arena, I can be found fixing fences, playing with goats, paddleboarding with my dog, or maybe fixing my pickup. I really enjoy hobbies that allow me to use my hands and challenge my mind. I carry this theme with me into my day job where I am a Caltrans employee in the division of Highway Maintenance. This occupation consists of all things that relate to caring for California’s Highways; brush and tree removal, flagging operations, chain control, snow removal, emergency scenes, highway safety, and so much more. Let me ask you this…..have you ever seen a rodeo queen drive a snow plow?......No?......Well come on up to Trinity County and see for yourself!
As a rodeo queen, my duties involve traveling up and down the west coast representing the Redding Rodeo at numerous rodeos, concerts, parades, schools, and places of work. The title of a queen is so much more than just a sash and crown, I am the 1st lady of my association. It is my job to correctly educate the public about the sport of rodeo and what my association is about . Through this I can provide an insider's point of view from the arena and behind the chutes. Encouraging the next generation of spectators and athletes within the sport is of the utmost importance to me. I am no stranger to public speaking, so I am also involved on the air with numerous radio stations and on your television screen with many different news channels.
Along with myself, I will have a team of horses that will be traveling with me. They include Lua (an American Paint Horse mare), Icy (an American Paint/Quarter Horse mare), and Slug (a 3 year old Gypsy Vanner colt). They all will get to see the sights and meet thousands of people over the course of this next year. I am so lucky to have a great team of 4 legged friends to share this journey with!
Now that you know a bit about me, I am eager to get to know you as well! Please feel free to snag me at any time for an autograph, story, or picture. I am excited to meet you and share the Redding Rodeo story.
