Bull Fighter - Eric Layton

Eric started out riding bulls when he was fifteen years old. After he graduated high school he attended West Hills Community College in Coalinga, Ca. He rodeoed bulls and went to college. But after realizing his bull-riding career wasn’t going anywhere he hung up his rope and bought a pair of cleats.
Eric protected cowboys for three years in the amateur rodeo association here in California. He was voted in his first and second year to the finals and named bullfighter of the year. In 2005 he was working a college rodeo in Susanville, Ca and stock contractor John Growney approached him. He asked if he would like to come work for him in Red Bluff, Ca. With excitement he said, “Yes sir”.

Eric has worked for Growney Brothers Rodeo Company for six years now. With the help of John Growney, Tim Bridwell and Don Kish, he has worked some of the best PRCA rodeos on the west coast. Every winter he looks forward to the upcoming rodeo season. Between great friends that make up our crew and the great rodeos we go to Eric couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
